When I started Zuri Collection, just a few short months ago, I was building the Zuri brand and shop around Artisans in Tanzania, a country very close to my heart. I knew eventually I would grow to working with groups in different parts of the world, but little did I know that would happen much sooner than I thought.
I met Dana, from PresentlyIn, on Instagram just a couple short months after Zuri launched. We immediately bonded over all things artisan-made and gorgeous textiles, but it came out later we actually grew up in neighboring towns outside Chicago. Such a small world! It wasn't long after we met that we decided a partnership between Zuri and PresentlyIn was a must! It was love at first sight for me and the Bosco Clutch, and had a feeling my Zuri friends might feel the same way!
The Bosco Clutches are made from upcycled rugs which were woven by a cooperative of artesanias (female artisans) based in Ancash, Peru. This talented coop is part of an association of artisans in Barranco (a district of Lima Peru). It is a non-profit organization that ensures all items are fair trade.
The rugs were then made into clutches by PresentlyIn's main production artisan, Elena, who opened her own shop in the artisan markets in Miraflores (district of Lima). She is a young, entrepreneurial, talented artisan from Lima with a strong passion and interest in fashion. Elena does high quality work, making bags one at a time with a talent for taking traditional textiles and adding a modern take on it. She also creates some of her own designs including the Zig Zag and the Fringed Clutches featured in Zuri's Peru Collection.
I just adore the fact that each of these clutches is one-of-a-kind! The colors are dreamy and its texture and patterns are timeless. The Bosco is a must-have!
